Yew natural edge coffee table with walnut legs
I took a long time over this table, because the grain on the top was so beautiful I wanted the legs to complement it without overshadowing it. I tried several different approaches until I came across the front support, which mirrors the natural edge of the top and somehow helps to transition from the top to the walnut legs.
On the top I have inserted a walnut 'bow tie' to bridge the split you see in the pictures. This serves to hold the edges together and, again, creates a link to the legs.
The top was then sanded many times until it became beautifully smooth, then treated with food-safe mineral oil.
