Elm desk with natural edge and ash legs

Natural edge desk with oak legs

This beautiful desk is made from a single piece of elm with the natural edge retained to create a highly unusual shape. The legs are made from oak. I make all items myself from my workshop in the Leicestershire countryside. For this table, I selected the elm from a local source, removed all loose bark to reveal the beautiful grain and natural edge (sometimes known as waney edge). The top was then sanded many times until it became beautifully smooth, then treated with food-safe mineral oil. The legs are formed from locally sourced oak, tapered gently to a delicate foot.
